The Pittsburgh Promise® is a community commitment to help students and families of the Pittsburgh Public Schools plan, prepare and pay for education beyond high school. The Pittsburgh Promise promotes high educational aspirations among urban youth, funds scholarships for post-secondary access, and fuels a prepared and diverse regional workforce.
The Promise is in the midst of an ambitious fundraising campaign to raise $265 million to fund post-secondary scholarships and is committed to raising the required resources to fund students through the high school graduating class of 2028.
From the beginning, The Promise was a big idea. Today that big idea is creating economic mobility for urban youth and a more diverse workforce for our region. The dream and commitment that gave birth to The Promise in 2008 are now yielding returns that will impact countless lives for decades to come. Generous community, foundation, and corporate support has allowed The Promise to give over 10,000 scholarships to date. Promise alumni have added talent and diversity to our region’s workforce at over 650 companies.
