Elect

• The PPS Teen Parenting Program has been in existence since the 1970s.
• In 1990, a unique partnership was established between the Pennsylvania Departments of Public Welfare and Education which resulted in the creation of the ELECT Initiative.
• The primary purpose of ELECT is to assist expectant, custodial and non-custodial  young parents, under age 24, to obtain a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• The ELECT Program offers comprehensive support services to both teen mothers and fathers.
