High School Sports Physicals Begin September 3rd
PITTSBURGH September 2, 2020 – Now that the Board has allowed fall sports to proceed, high school students across the District are encouraged to get the necessary physicals and “ImPACT” concussion testing. Both are necessary for student athletes to participate in sports.
“We are now focused on getting our students the physicals they need to safely begin practice and compete this fall,” said Karen Arnold, Director of Athletics.
Students are encouraged to complete necessary physicals through their Primary Care Physician (PCP). A copy of the necessary form is available at www.pghschools.org/athletics. High school seniors who do not have the required 12th grade vaccine should have their physical completed by their PCP. Students with a completed physical can take their “ImPACT” test at the Rooney Complex located on the South Side at 3200 S. Water Street, 15203. Please email Brandon Mazza at mazzabv@upmc.edu to set up an appointment.
Sports physicals will also be available through the District September 3, 4, 8, and 9 by appointment. Families can make appointments through the Athletics office by calling 412-529-2222. Only phone call appointments will be accepted. The official start date for fall practices will be announced once physicals are finalized.
