Pittsburgh Board of Public Education Accepts School Superintendent Dr. Hamlet’s Resignation, Approves Separation/Severance Agreement

PITTSBURGH, September 14, 2021 – Today, at a special legislative meeting, the Pittsburgh Board of Public Education voted to accept Dr. Anthony Hamlet’s resignation as Superintendent of Pittsburgh Public Schools, effective Friday, October 1, 2021. The Board also voted to approve Dr. Hamlet’s separation and severance agreement in accordance with his contract and the Pennsylvania School Code.

 

Dr. Hamlet resigned on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. Under terms of his contract, he will receive one year’s salary, plus the actual value of his benefits. This amounts to $399,687.

 

The Board plans to name an Interim Superintendent on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, with internal candidates also being considered for the post. Beginning in December, the incoming School Board will direct the national search for a new Superintendent.
