K-5 English Language Arts Instructional Materials Selection Committee

The Pittsburgh Public Schools is currently reviewing core instructional materials for K-5 English Language Arts and welcome the participation and input from parents, guardians and community members. Per the District’s Textbook Policy, a textbook selection committee must be established when choosing a new textbook. The committee comprises teachers, administrators, principals, parents, and, when appropriate, students.


Committee Members are paid an honorarium of $10.00 per hour, and responsibilities may include the review of textbooks and supplemental materials. Members of the Pittsburgh Public Schools Curriculum & Instruction staff will facilitate all committee meetings. 


The committee will meet between 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Greenway Professional Development Center (Second Floor), 1400 Crucible Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15205. Committee room assignments will be posted on the second-floor lobby. The tentative Committee dates are as follows:


Wednesday, March 8: Orientation and Proposal Review

Thursday, March 9: Vendor Presentation

Monday, March 13: Vendor Presentation

Thursday, March 16: Vendor Presentation

Tuesday, March 21: Vendor Presentation 

Thursday, March 23: Vendor Presentation

Monday, March 27: Vendor Presentation

Thursday, March 30: Final Committee Recommendations 


Vendor presentation dates are tentative and subject to change based on vendor ability. The instructional materials advisory committee will receive communication regarding any changes to the meeting schedule.
