District Provides Free Physicals for High School Student Athletes in Preparation for Spring Sports

Pittsburgh Public Schools will offer free sports physicals for high school spring sports this week. Physicals are available by appointment February 22 – February 26, 2021 at all nine high schools—Pittsburgh Allderdice, Brashear, Carrick, CAPA, Perry, Obama, Sci-Tech, Milliones, and Westinghouse.

Appointments can be made by calling the Athletic Office at 412-529-2222.  Spring sports include baseball, softball, boys’ volleyball, boys’ tennis, boys’/girls’ track and field and lacrosse (Allderdice only).  This is the only opportunity that PPS will be offering free physicals for spring sports.

District certified nurse practitioners may only provide sports physicals to students with up-to-date immunizations. Students without the required immunizations are encouraged to complete the necessary physical through their Primary Care Physician (PCP) or health provider.

Students who have ever tested positive for COVID-19 will need to receive their physical and medical clearance from their PCP or health provider.

A copy of the required form is available at www.pghschools.org/athletics. To protect student medical information, students who want to get their physical completed by a District nurse practitioner, can only receive their physical at the school they attend.
