District Takes Precautionary Measures to Ensure Safety of Pittsburgh Morrow Students and Staff
PITTSBURGH January 12, 2018 – As an added precautionary measure, Pittsburgh Public Schools will temporarily relocate Pittsburgh Morrow PreK-4 students as contractors remedy structural concerns with the smokestack located on top of the school’s primary building. As repairs would limit facility access, beginning January 16, PreK students will relocate to the school’s intermediate campus (former Rooney facility), and students in grades Kindergarten through 4th will relocate to the Pittsburgh Gifted Center located on the West End. Students in Grades 6-8 will remain at the school’s intermediate location. It is anticipated repairs will be completed by January 24th.
Transportation schedules for students will not be impacted. Buses will transport students to the school’s intermediate campus, where students will transition to the Gifted Center. All walkers are to report to the intermediate campus for transportation.
Gifted Center enrichment activities are canceled for the week of January 16th. Gifted Center staff will remain on site to provide additional support.
