February is CTE Month
Developed by ACTE (the largest national education association dedicated to the advancement of career and technical education), CTE Month is “a public awareness campaign that celebrates the value of CTE and the achievements and accomplishments of CTE programs across the country”.
The Career and Technical Education Division of Pittsburgh Public Schools is taking part in this national observance by sponsoring a number of events designed to acknowledge its supporters, expand its base and further its mission.
This year's major events include:
- CTE Teacher Appreciation Day - We're recognizing our amazing teachers and all of their hard work and perseverance in support of CTE students.
- Salon Perry Grand Opening - The official "opening" of Salon Perry will feature special guest speaker, A'Lelia Bundles (the great-great-granddaughter and biographer of cosmetics industry pioneer, Madam C.J. Walker). Ms. Bundles will join us virtually.
- CTE Month Proclamations will be issued by the Office of Mayor Ed Gainey and from Pittsburgh City Council.
- Financial Freedom Fridays with Bomani Howze - Finance and real estate expert Bomani Howze, Vice President of Development for the Buccini/Pollin Group (the real estate development firm spearheading the Lower Hill Redevelopment Project) will deliver a life-changing series about wealth building and financial success in America.
- PPS-CTE SkillsUSA Medalist Recognition - CTE's 13 SkillsUSA medalists will be recognized by the PPS Board of Directors for their accomplishments.
Join us as we celebrate CTE Month 2022!
