Black Men Read

On Tuesday, February 28, Black male leaders will bring words to life for our youngest readers as part of Black Men Read. Taking place at 34 schools across the District, Black Men Read aims to encourage a love of reading for our students while also countering negative narratives related to Black men. As part of Black Men Read, leaders from across the city will read to students in grades K-2 on Tuesday, February 28, from 9:30 – 11:00 AM, demonstrating that Black men care about the outcomes and experiences of Pittsburgh’s children.

PPS Ice Skating Party

The Pittsburgh Penguins invite all Pittsburgh Public Schools staff, students and their families to a skate party at the Highmark Hunt Armory Ice Rink! Join us to skate some energy away before the last week of classes this calendar year. Registration and rental skates are available at no cost (sizes are limited).

Child Tax Credit

It’s not too late to get the Child Tax Credit! Even though the tax season has ended, almost all families qualify and can still get their money. Submit a simplified return at GetCTC.org through November 15, 2022.

KDKA In Your Neighborhood EXTRA

New this year is a special streaming program In Your Neighborhood Extra which will provide a look back at last year’s stories and preview this year’s with the Westwood segment. IYN Extra premiers this Friday evening at 8:00 PM and airs via kdka.com on the main page, just click play. It is also accessible on any smart TV or game station by scrolling to the CBS News app and selecting Pittsburgh.
