About Our School

Are you looking to provide your child with the opportunity to become an internationally minded citizen of the world? If so, we have the program for you!

Pittsburgh Linden PreK-5 is a whole-school language elementary Magnet located in the neighborhood of Point Breeze. We provide a Pre-Kindergarten to fifth-grade program, where students receive language and culture exposure in Mandarin Chinese. All incoming Kindergarten students will be enrolled in the Mandarin Chinese language program. Students will learn to speak, read, and write in Chinese from our certified and bilingual foreign language teacher and experience the infusion of the culture and language through daily activities, interdisciplinary activities, and celebrations, such as, Chinese New Year. Those students in the Mandarin Magnet program have the opportunity to continue in the International Baccalaureate Magnet Program at Pittsburgh Obama 6-12 in 6th grade.

The motto of Pittsburgh Linden PreK-5 is to Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Safe, which help students to develop self-control, character, orderliness, safety, and efficiency.

Pittsburgh Linden PreK-5 offers a variety of extracurricular activities to students. These activities include: Safety Patrol, Chorus K-5, Instrumental Music, School-Wide Community Service Projects, Intramurals, Team Sports (Swimming, Basketball, Track and Field), Chinese cultural celebrations, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts Artist in Residency Program, and the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy and After-School Clubs (Art Club, and Strong Women Strong Girls).

Week 10 Jerome Bettis Leadership Award Recipient : Pittsburgh Allderdice Lukas Steadv

Strong relationships are important for everyone, but especially for young people. Student athletes have a unique opportunity to offer mentoring support to their peers to help them learn and grow -- on and off the field! Pittsburgh Public Schools & Pittsburgh Allderdice recognizes the importance of relationships for our students and we're thrilled to announce that our very own Lukas Stead has been honored with the Jerome Bettis Leadership Award, presented by the Pittsburgh Steelers, The Mentoring Partnership, Giant Eagle and The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. This award recognizes high school football players from around the region who go above and beyond to be a leader in their community and offer support and encouragement to their teammates and peers. As part of this recognition, Lukas Stead will be honored in an on-field ceremony during an upcoming Steelers home game.

Quote from Dan Rooney, Steelers Vice President of Business Development & Strategy “Football is more than a game – it’s a platform for building leadership and character that extends beyond the playing field. Jerome Bettis embodies what it means to be a leader on and off the field and the Steelers are honored to recognize young football players contributing to their communities with an award in his name. By doing so, we are highlighting the power of high school football to shape not only better athletes, but better people.”

Quote from Jerome Bettis, Pittsburgh Steelers/ Pro Football Hall of Fame Running Back “I give back because of what I was given. As a young athlete, I benefited from mentorship both on and off the field. Throughout my career, I strived to be a positive influence on my teammates and in my community. I firmly believe sports—and athletes in particular—have the power to make a lasting impact on their schools and communities. That’s why I’m excited to have my name connected to this award recognizing the peer leadership of high school athletes in the Pittsburgh area
