About Our School
Pittsburgh Allegheny K-5 emphasizes high academic standards to promote student achievement, character development and community pride in a highly structured and disciplined school environment. The instructional program is designed around the District's comprehensive curriculum, emphasizing the Pennsylvania learning standards in reading, math, writing, science, social studies, art, music and physical education. Pittsburgh Allegheny K-5 is a whole Magnet Traditional Academy with an emphasis on writing, beginning in kindergarten. Writing skills are embedded across all content areas including related arts.

Dr. Dominique Thornhill is the visionary founder of Each One Teach One Childcare and Learning Center, a network of early learning centers serving children and families across the Pittsburgh region. With a focus on culturally responsive education and whole-child development, Dr. Dom also leads a nonprofit supporting youth through trauma-informed care and college and career readiness. Her life’s work reflects a deep commitment to equity, empowerment, and creating opportunities for the next generation to thrive.
