About Our School

MISSION STATEMENT

The Barack Obama Academy of International Studies is an   International Baccalaureate World School that prepares students to become academically wellrounded, globally competitive, compassionate, and confident, in a safe and supportive environment.

BARACK OBAMA ACADEMY OF INTERNATIONAL STUDIES  VISION STATEMENT

The Barack Obama Academy of International Studies aims to uphold and support the vision of Pittsburgh Public Schools by implementing the principles and standards of practice of the International Baccalaureate Organization to ensure all students will graduate high school college, career and life-ready prepared to complete a two-or four-year college degree or workforce certification.

 INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE MISSION STATEMENT

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end, the organization works with schools, governments, and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

IB LEARNER PROFILE

In all International Baccalaureate World Schools, the IB Learner profile represents ten values attributes. The International Baccalaureate organization and our staff believe that these attributes can help our students become responsible members of local, national, and global communities.

The staff encourages students to become: INQUIRERS, KNOWLEDGEABLE, THINKERS, COMMUNICATORS, PRINCIPLED, OPEN-MINDED, CARING, RISKTAKERS, BALANCED,  & REFLECTIVE
