What is The Colab, and when was it founded?
Alyse Fowlks: It's a space for local businesses to expand their customer base and sell their items. Founded in 2021.
What made you passionate about beginning your business?
Alyse Fowlks: I felt passionate about creating the space because it allows my vendors to get more exposure to their platform.
Do you feel that Pittsburgh Sci-Tech helped you realize what direction you wanted to take?
Alyse Fowlks: When I first joined the band, I was in the Color Guard. Shout out to Miss Aisha Sharif, she helped me stay focused on what I wanted to do in life.
What advice would you give to current PPS students who may be interested in starting a business?
Alyse Fowlks: The advice I would give PPS students is to find the environments you like to be in, figure out what interests you most, and create a business plan before you start anything because you don't want to jump in not knowing what you're doing.
Find out what makes you happy. Business is constantly evolving, and you have to be okay with change. It comes at any moment.
What does the future hold for The Colab?
Alyse Fowlks: I see The Colab expanding to different states, and I also want to create a building of my own. I'm also going to be getting into interior designing and fashion styling.
