But even though Dylan has moved on to Pittsburgh CAPA, the Cherskys are still engaged in Dylan’s learning, especially at home

    PITTSBURGH — Thursday is Feb. 29, or Leap Day. As we know, it only comes around once every four years — but what's the reason behind it? At Pittsburgh Science and Technology Academy, eighth graders Ayanna Hall and Katie Hamner are working out the math explaining the science behind the mystical date of Feb. 29.

    A Celebration of Brilliance: Dr. Mary Lee Brady-Atkins inducted into Westinghouse High School Wall of Fame

    Thursday, February 8, 2024, was a humongous day in the City of Pittsburgh, at Westinghouse High School, and in the life of Dr. Mary Lee Brady-Atkins. The oldest living descendant of Sally Hemings, who was born on May 11, 1928, and at age 95, was recognized for her “extraordinary works” and “unforgettable life” during a ceremony at her alma mater, Westinghouse.

    Our mission is to provide Pittsburgh Public Schools students in grades 4-12 with a tuition-free and technology-based program virtually. Academically rigorous courses are taught by certified teachers in a structured, yet flexible way that meets every student's individual needs.


    Our Program:

    Pittsburgh Online Academy students and parents participate in a comprehensive orientation that introduces families to our course ware systems, school policies and family expectations. We also provide students with state-of-the-art equipment to maximize their learning experience.

    Our courseware systems provide interactive and engaging lessons to help students learn. Oddysseyware, our main courseware system, provides a user-friendly and succient lessons that guide students towards content mastery.




    Online Academy, located at 93 S. 10th Street, was built in 1974. The 1 story building a total area of 224,105 square feet.
