    District Seeks Public Input on Draft State Required Future Ready Comprehensive Plan

     

    The District’s draft state required Future Ready Comprehensive Plan is now available for public comment at www.pghschools.org/compplan. Pennsylvania school districts must submit a plan that includes district goals and action items.  Teachers, staff, administrators, students, parents and community members are invited to review the draft plan and provide feedback through December 20, 2022.  The draft plan, informed by a steering committee made up of board members, parents, students, administrators, staff members, community partners, and the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers, includes research and evidence-based strategies to address four prioritized challenges based on state-identified essential practices and student data:

    • Supporting schools in implementing research and evidence-based instructional strategies and programs to ensure all students have access to rigorous, standards-aligned instruction,
    • Coordinating and monitoring support aligned with student and family needs,
    • Recruiting and retaining fully credentialed, experienced and high-quality teachers; and  
    • Allocating resources, including money, staff, professional learning, materials, and support to schools based on the analysis of a variety of data.

    There are several ways the public may provide comment on the District’s Comprehensive Plan:  

     

    • Speak at December’s Public Hearing taking place Monday, December 19, 2022 (Procedures for public hearings can be found online under the Board of Directors portion of the District’s website at www.pghschools.org/publichearings).      

     

    Public comments will be reviewed and considered when finalizing the Comprehensive Plan.  The Board is expected to vote on the Final Comprehensive Plan at its December 21st Legislative Session.
