Inside the AP African American Studies class piloted at Allderdice High School that has sparked praise, outrage across the country
At Allderdice, 111 high schoolers are enrolled in the class, up from 72 last year. Mr. Nolte noted that Pittsburgh Public has been “very supportive” of the course so far.

Since 2016, Pittsburgh Public Schools has worked to ensure access to high-quality H2O for its students and staff. As of 2023, the District has replaced 98 percent of all water fountains to provide filtered and chilled water, including all school-based fountains.
