AAPI RESOURCE CENTER

Though Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month is observed annually in May to celebrate the contributions that generations of AAPIs have made to American history, society, and culture, the Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC) has curated information and resources to educate the public about AAPIs and celebrate AAPI Heritage all year long. The theme for the observance of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage in 2022 is Advancing Leaders Through Collaboration.

ASIAN PACIFIC HERITAGE

In honor of Asian/Pacific American Heritage, The Library of Congress, National Archives and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum join in paying tribute to the generations of Asian and Pacific Islanders who have enriched America's history and are instrumental in its future success. Open the site's Care Package, the Asian Pacific American Center's online exhibition curated with love in difficult times. This exhibition includes short films, poems, music, and meditations for times like this.

In 2014, the Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment (CAPE) launched the #IAM Campaign to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AAPIHM) and to share these inspiring stories. The #IAM Campaign includes powerful stories of some of your favorite AAPI role models, including Sandra Oh, Constance Wu, George Takei, Daniel Dae Kim, Ki Hong Lee, Cassey Ho, Danny Pudi, Kelly Hu, D-trix, Wong Fu Productions, Michelle Phan, Lisa Ling, Ming-Na Wen, and many more!

JADED - OFFICE OF PUBLIC ART, PITTSBURGH

The Office of Public Art (OPA) works at the convergence of public art and civic design in the Pittsburgh region. Launching Spring 2022, JADED is a public programming series celebrating the art and culture of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. Organized by a collective of AAPI artists and organizers, also named JADED, the programming series builds interethnic coalitions to create more safe spaces of kinship and addresses racial trauma while celebrating cultural heritage. Programming and intimate events aim to reanimate local histories, preserve cherished family recipes and practices, and nurture intergenerational dialogue.

ANTI-DEFAMATION LEAGUE - AAPI HERITAGE RESOURCES

A global leader in exposing extremism, delivering anti-bias education and fighting hate online, the ultimate goal of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is a world in which no group or individual suffers from bias, discrimination or hate. In schools and classrooms, Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month is an excellent time to explore the rich history and culture of people who are AAPI as well as analyzing the bias and discrimination faced by them. It is important not to isolate exploration of AAPI history and culture, Asian American Pacific Islander history is American history and should be integrated into the curriculum throughout the school year.
