Student Equity Advocates

Launched during the 2019–2020 school year, SEAs were placed in secondary schools to provide consistent, targeted support to historically marginalized students—particularly Black students—through:

• Access to positive role models
• Extended learning opportunities
• Post-secondary preparation
• Culturally affirming and identity-anchored mentorship

Student Equity Advocates were tasked with working both independently and collectively, in close collaboration with school and community stakeholders, to help students build:

• A strong sense of belonging and agency
• Meaningful relationships
• A deeper investment in their education and future success
