Resocialization Health and Safety Plan
Athletics Resocialization Health and Safety Plan
At Pittsburgh Public Schools, we value the valuable life skills students gain from their participation in athletics. We look forward to beginning the fall sports season as soon as we can in a safe manner. The health and safety of our students is our number one priority as we prepare to engage in pre-season activities. On July 15, 2020, the Board of Education approved the Athletics Resocialization Health and Safety Plan. The plan outlines how we will provide a safe space of fun, learning and camaraderie for our students. It covers procedures for conditioning, daily safety checks for athletes, coaches and staff, and the use of masks. The plan was developed with input from coaches, principals, parents, athletic trainers and other medical personnel to ensure a health and safety plan that follows the prescribed guidelines as set forth by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD), and the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Prior to the beginning of pre-season conditioning, all coaching staff will be trained on the safe return protocols.
