Parent Advisory Council Representatives

Parent Advisory Council Representatives

The Parent Advisory Council is the District’s central mechanism for ensuring that parents are well informed about Pittsburgh Public Schools matters, and that they have the opportunity to help develop District-level programming and policy and share information with District staff. It also gives parents the opportunity to assume leadership roles by serving as liaisons between parents at their school and District officials.

The committee is comprised of one to four parent or family representatives from each school. School representatives have the opportunity to:

  • meet with the Superintendent, Office of the Superintendent staff members, Chiefs of key departments (Operations, Budget, Office of School Performance)
  • interact with other parents from across the city
  • receive high level information
  • serve as a liaison between parents at your school and the District
  • ensure that information received at meetings is shared with the parents at your school through monthly PSCC meetings
  • share the collective interests of other parents
  • recruit other parents to participate on the council
  • participate on district-level committees that can have an impact on decisions affecting the entire school district.

Please speak with your school principal or FACE Coordinator if you are interested in being a Parent Advisory Council Representative.
