Parent Advisory Council
The District-wide Parent Advisory Council (PAC) serves as Pittsburgh Public Schools’ central platform for parent and family leadership, engagement, and collaboration. PAC creates opportunities for families to stay informed about District initiatives, programs, and policies while ensuring parent and caregiver voices help shape the future of Pittsburgh Public Schools.
The Council is made up of one to three parent or family representatives from each school across the District. Throughout the school year, PAC members meet with the Office of the Superintendent, the Office of Communications and Stakeholder Engagement, and other District leaders to learn about key District priorities, share school-based feedback and concerns, and strengthen communication between schools, families, and the District
Purpose of PAC
PAC is a leadership and information-sharing body designed to strengthen family-school partnerships and build parent leadership across the District. The purpose of PAC is to equip families with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to understand, navigate, and advocate within the evolving landscape of Pittsburgh Public Schools while supporting student success and meaningful family engagement.
Aligned with the District’s Meet, Model, and Motivate framework, PAC is committed to meeting families where they are through accessible and meaningful engagement opportunities, modeling informed parent leadership and positive family-school partnerships, and motivating families to become active participants in their child’s educational journey.
