2. To enroll in CTE, students must submit an application for their program of choice, signed by the student’s parent or legal guardian.
3. All CTE applications are to be submitted through the student’s home school counselor or online via the CTE section of the District’s website.
4. The programs are filled on a first come, first served basis. Programs are filled based on the date the application is received by the CTE office. Once a program reaches capacity (25 new students per year), applicants will be placed on a waiting list and will be moved from the waiting list if seats become available.
5. Applications for the Fall semester are accepted through the end of the first reporting period. Students must begin the program by the first day of the 2nd reporting period and remain in the program for one school year.
6. New applications received after the last day of the 1st reporting period will be moved to the application list for the following school year. Mid-year applications are only accepted for students who are new to the District and those new to the district and were taking a related CTE program while enrolled in their prior school district.
7. A student who is enrolled in a PPS magnet program must rescind their magnet status prior to participating in a CTE program. However, students enrolled in the Engineering magnet at Allderdice may transition into the CTE Engineering program of study without rescinding their magnet status.
8. Withdrawal can be voluntary. Students may voluntarily withdraw from their CTE program within the first 10 (ten) school days of enrollment in that program.
9. Withdrawal can be involuntary under special circumstances, i.e., including, but not limited to chronic absenteeism that hinders completion of mandated hour requirement, safety concerns, with detailed supporting documentation, involuntary withdrawal from a CTE program may be granted subject to the approval of the CTE Executive Director, the principal of the building that houses the CTE program, and the principal of the student’s home school.
