At Pittsburgh Public Schools, we believe it takes all of us—students, teachers, school leaders, staff, administration, parents, community members and our Board of Directors—to truly move the needle on student success. When we work together, amazing things happen.

That’s why Superintendent Wayne N. Walters EdD is proud to introduce The Superintendent’s Challenge Coin—a special recognition for individuals who go above and beyond for our students, our schools, and our entire PPS community.

This is not just an award.  It’s a powerful symbol of what it means to live our values and proudly say: “We Are PPS.”

Newly designed and personally awarded, the Challenge Coin represents the Superintendent’s  highest level of appreciation for the leadership, service, and dedication that shape the Pittsburgh Public Schools every day. It's a tribute to the educators, staff, students, and community members who make a lasting difference and inspire others to do the same.

Who Will Earn the Coin? Challenge Coin recipients will be those who demonstrate:

• Exceptional leadership and service
• A strong commitment to student success
• Dedication to building a positive, inclusive school culture
• Contributions that support and enhance our educational mission
