Enrollment and Registration

Pittsburgh Public Schools offers a wide variety of educational options and offerings for our diverse student body. We aim to provide options that not only match our students’ passions and unique needs, but also help to prepare them for the real world through diverse experiences.

If English is not your dominant language, members from our English Language Development (ELD) office will help you enroll. To schedule an appointment, please call the ELD office at 412-529-3516 or 412-529-3367.

Early Childhood Early Childhood Programs provides children, ages three to five, a comprehensive, full day educational program designed to reinforce and respond to the unique strengths and needs of the individual child and family.

K-12 Neighborhood Schools Every student is assigned to a neighborhood school by the student's address. Visit Neighborhood schools are also referred to as "feeder" schools. Addresses in the same area are grouped into a feeder pattern and assigned to the same school. Visit SchoolSearch to determine your school.

​ K-12 Magnet Schools Magnet schools and programs allow students to pursue special interests, talents or career goals. Magnet schools are not neighborhood specific so students who reside anywhere in the District are eligible to attend. Students must apply.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) CTE provides students with the opportunity to receive technical skills that are in demand in the job market and college credit. Students will earn workforce certifications while in school.

Want to enroll in Pittsburgh Public Schools?

We have an online process that you can complete from the comfort of your home – using a smart phone or a computer – you will need an email address and the ability to submit pictures or scans of some documents that are required by Pennsylvania law. If your child needs additional services, such as special education, the school will refer him/her/them to the appropriate department.

If you do not have an email or having challenges enrolling online, please visit your child's neighborhood school. You can find your child's neighborhood school using our Find a School tool.

Don’t know your child(ren)s neighborhood Pittsburgh Public School?

Use our Find a School tool to identify the school(s) for your address. If you have questions, call your school, The Student Data Support Specialist or the School Secretary can assist you getting questions answered

Whether you’re enrolling your first child in Pre–K, selecting a magnet program for the first time, or moving to the District from another place, we want to make the process simple for you. Here are a few things to get you started.

Step 1: Gather Supporting Documents

Please have all the required documents on hand. Download the Enrollment Flyer for a useful checklist.

You will need:

  • Evidence of the child's age. This must be a legal document, such as a copy of birth certificate, passport, or baptismal certificate.
  • Two current proofs of residency, such as a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license or vehicle registration, utility bills, tax statements, lease or mortgage statement, or an official public assistance letter · Immunization records with dates from your child’s doctor’s office or former school, or an international health certificate.

Additional Documents:

The District may request additional documents (if available). These documents are not required as a condition of enrollment and will not delay a child's enrollment.

  • Health/Physical Examination Records
  • Academic, Attendance, and Special Education Records from previous school(s)

Step 2: Submit Enrollment Application

Click here to complete an online enrollment form using your email. (You will need an email to set up an account.)

If you are unable to complete the online application, please visit your neighborhood school and submit the required documents there.

Questions about Enrollment?

Use our Find a School tool to identify your child's neighborhood school(s). After entering your address in the tool, the neighborhood schools for your address will appear on the left side of the screen. You can click on the school's name to visit their website and learn more about the school, including their contact information.
