The Pittsburgh CAPA 6-12 Instrumental Music Department has long been known for the highest standards of performance, scholarship, creativity, and teaching. This legacy continues today through the fostering of young musicians within a supportive and rigorous learning community.

Students, faculty, and community engage daily in a lively study of music across genres. With a legendary pre-college and pre-professional training program, CAPA 6-12 music students are challenged to make their superb musicianship and scholarship matter.

We take seriously the role of music in cultural traditions, embracing diversity, not just ethnic, but intellectual and aesthetic, as well. We know how vital music is for our civilization, and take responsibility for sustaining that vitality.
