What is Summer Dreamers?
Summer Dreamers is a 'summer learning camp' providing the academic benefit of a summer school along with the fun of a summer camp. Campers have fun and exciting English Language Arts and Mathematics classes in the morning and participate in up to two enrichment activities of their choice in the afternoon. Past offerings have included swimming, arts, science, video game design, martial arts, physical fitness, community service, and much more!
Who is eligible to attend?
Summer Dreamers is open to any PPS student who has completed Kindergarten through 8th grade. Applicants must currently be attending a Pittbsurgh Public School at the time of application.
How do I sign my child up?
Registration for the Summer Dreamers Academy is done online. To apply, visit summerdreamers.pps.k12.pa.us/ in early March to sign up! Be sure to have your Home Access Center (HAC) user name and password as you will need it to login to the online portal. If you do not remember your HAC credentials, please contact your child's school's office or call the Parent Hotline at 412-529-HELP.
Because we have a limited number of spots, we, unfortunately, are not able to serve every child who applies. We make our acceptance decisions based on serving children who are most at risk for summer learning loss. Typically this involves looking at a child's academic performance during the school year and his/her eligibility for free/reduced price meals, as well.
When is camp in session?
For 2019, camp is anticipated to run from Monday, June 24th through Wednesday, July 31st, from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm. Camp will not be in session on Thursday, July 4th.
Where will my child attend camp?
We are currently in the process of confirming regional camp sites.
The 2019 Summer Dreamers Academy will operate at regional camp sites that are determined by a camper's home address. When completing the online application, you will be able to confirm your childs site.
