Whether you’re enrolling your first child in Pre–K, selecting a magnet program for the first time, or moving to the District from another place, we want to make the process simple for you. Here are a few things to get you started:
- Early Childhood enrollment for children ages 3–5 is online. Visit the Early Childhood Enrollment page or stop in one of our Early Childhood Centers and a staff member will assist you with your online application.
- Register for Kindergarten if your child will be 5 years old by September 30. We've created a quick guide on the process and what you will need to register.
- Enrollment in neighborhood schools for children K–12. Every student is assigned to a neighborhood school by the student's address. You can find the school for your neighborhood on Discover PPS. To register, follow the instructions below.
- Magnet school applications are accepted between September and December the year before your child begins the magnet program. Magnet schools are not neighborhood specific so students who reside anywhere in the District are eligible to attend. Before applying to a magnet program, your child must be registered or pre-registered with Pittsburgh Public Schools using the instructions below.
