2023 Text Book Committee Information

  • The Pittsburgh Public Schools values the input of all stakeholders.  Superintendent Wayne N.   • Social Studies Materials Review Committee: Parents/Guardians/Community Members Application

    Parents, guardians, and community members are cordially invited to participate in serving on the      Social Studies Materials Review Committee. As outlined in the District’s Textbook Policy, a textbook selection committee must be established when choosing a new textbook. The committee comprises teachers, administrators, principals, parents, and, when appropriate, students. Committee Members are paid an honorarium of $10.00 per hour, and responsibilities may include the review of textbooks and supplemental materials. Members of the Office of Curriculum & Instruction staff will facilitate all committee meetings. The deadline to apply is October 27, 2023.

  • 6-12 ELA Materials Review Committee: Student Application

    Students are invited to serve on the 6-12 ELA Materials Review Committee. As outlined in the District’s Textbook Policy, a textbook selection committee must be established when choosing a new textbook. Committee Members are paid an honorarium of $8.00 per hour, and responsibilities may include the review of textbooks and supplemental materials.     Pittsburgh Public Schools is reviewing materials for a newly created Ethnic Studies course.  Students are cordially invited to serve on the Ethnic Studies Review Committee. As outlined in the District’s Materials Policy, a selection committee must be established when choosing new instructional materials. The committee comprises teachers, administrators, principals, parents, and when appropriate, students. Student Committee Members are paid an honorarium of $8.00 per hour, and responsibilities will include attending review sessions and providing feedback. Members of the Curriculum & Instruction staff will facilitate all committee meetings. The deadline to apply is October 26, 2023.
