ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
-
Pittsburgh Classical is a school-wide magnet program. We are located in Pittsburgh's West End neighborhood. We provide a strong academic core of communications and literary studies, science, social studies, and math. Our curriculum includes an in-depth look at the influence classical societies have had on our modern, western world and how we can continue to use those ideas to help shape our future world. In addition, we emphasize art education, physical education, Spanish language, and instrumental music. We enhance our curriculum by integrating technology through the use of our three computer labs, smart boards, ELMOs, and distance learning. As part of our classical focus, we provide students with several interdisciplinary experiences, some unique art opportunities and a special way to celebrate our learning at the end of each year.

Classical Academy Early Childhood Center
PPS Early Childhood Education Programs provides early learning opportunities to approximately over 2,000 children a year from infancy through five-years of age throughout the City of Pittsburgh. The children and families served receive comprehensive services including education, nutrition, health, mental health, disabilities and social services. By meeting the needs of the “whole child” we ensure that all children are prepared for kindergarten entrance. All of our PPS Early Childhood classrooms operate for 6-hours a day. During that time all children are exposed to a research-based, high quality curriculum that is aligned to the PA Early Learning Standards and receive instruction individually, in small groups, and in whole group settings. Our children also have opportunities to receive specialized services in the classroom through our contracted providers or Early Intervention (as needed), to socialize with peers, and receive breakfast & lunch daily. To learn more about Early Childhood, visit www.pghschools.org/earlychildhood
