ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

  • Pittsburgh Brookline PreK-8 has served as a  neighborhood learning institution for

more than 113 years. The school is situated near one of the highest points in the City of

Pittsburgh is in the middle of a thriving business district and a diverse community. Its tan brick and stately architectural façade are admired and respected throughout the community.

Students of Pittsburgh Brookline PreK-8 are exposed to a kind and compassionate school community where they are encouraged and supported by staff. The traditional travertine hallways funnel students into large and lively classrooms where staff have created rich learning environments. Grades K-5 classrooms are in the main building, while middle school grades attend classes adjacent to the school in air-conditioned demountable classrooms. Middle level students travel inside the main building to attend Related Arts classes, eat breakfast and lunch, and participate in school-wide activities. All students follow a traditional eight-period 45-minute bell schedule.

We are proud of our diverse learning environment highlighted by three regional

Autistic Support classrooms which provide inclusive teaching and learning

environment. Learning Support teachers act as a resource for other teachers by

Providing core curriculum supports based upon individual student data.

Additionally, our veteran expert teaching staff deliver a traditional curriculum,

supported by differentiated instruction, social and emotional lessons, and positive

behavior interventions and supports. All students receive a computer to use in each

class promoting 21st Century skills and cognitive tutor software applications.

The students at Brookline PreK-8 are encouraged by a wonderfully supportive staff, as well as community partners  that provide before and after school daycare, programming and resources that address needs, mentoring and engagement, and more. Staff members participate in the success of students through after-school tutoring, student clubs, and middle school sports. An active and supportive Parent Teacher Association (PTA) provides students with enhanced opportunities and builds community among all stakeholders. The staff of Pittsburgh Brookline PreK-8 is proud to be recognized by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation as one of America’s healthiest schools.
