    Purchasing's mission is to continually identify and incorporate innovative procurement practices that will provide quality and timely services to the District and its vendors while adhering to and enforcing all applicable laws, regulations and policies.
    The National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) awarded the District's Finance/Purchasing Division the Outstanding Agency Accreditation Achievement Award for 2009. The NIGP award "formally recognizes excellence in public procurement by establishing a body of standards that should be in place for a solid purchasing operation." Only 105 of nearly 2,600 governmental agencies have achieved this distinction.
