When will gifted evaluation request from the past school year be completed?
The district will review the gifted evaluation request from the spring to collect any further data needed for the Gifted Written Report (GWR). The district will complete all aspects of the Gifted Written Report (GWR) except for the psychological evaluation until the psychologist can conduct a face-to-face evaluation.
Can I request a gifted evaluation during e-learning for the first 9-weeks of school?
The gifted evaluation request and recommendation process will continue. The district recommends parents/guardians to provide their student’s teachers time to learn about their student academically before making a request. The teacher input is a valuable part of the process. The district will complete all aspects of the Gifted Written Report (GWR) except for the psychological evaluation until the psychologist can conduct a face-to-face evaluation.
When will GIEP meetings be conducted?
The onsite-gifted schools: Pittsburgh Dilworth, Pittsburgh Grandview, and Pittsburgh Sci-Tech will continue to conduct GIEP meetings in September and October.
The Pittsburgh Gifted Center: Students who attend the Pittsburgh Gifted Center will have their GIEP meetings shift from November to September to meet the changes to the learning environment
High School: GIEP meetings will continue to occur throughout the school year.
What type of supports will there be for gifted learners for the classroom teacher?
The classroom teachers will have access to enriched curriculum materials embedded within the core curriculum. CAS teachers will continue to support students with their Long-term projects (LTPs).
How will students who attend the Gifted Center be supported?
The Pittsburgh Gifted Center will provide gifted support for student’s strength area course. A schedule for students will be communicated by the principal and the gifted teacher.
How will students at Pittsburgh Dilworth and Pittsburgh Grandview K-5 on-site gifted and talented model be supported?
Pittsburgh Grandview and Pittsburgh Dilworth students will continue to receive gifted instruction in their area of strength from their gifted teacher. A schedule for students will be communicated by the principal and gifted teacher.
How will students at Pittsburgh Science and Technology Academy be supported?
Pittsburgh Science and Technology Academy implements an on-site gifted model that is school-wide. Students will continue to receive differentiated instruction which includes enriched and accelerated service delivery models for gifted and high ability performing students.
