• Core Sequence Scheduling Dashboard

Pittsburgh Public Schools (PPS) recognizes that instruction in core academic content areas is an important part of a rigorous education. As such, PPS monitors its secondary students’ completion of courses in core content areas. The four core content areas are English Language Arts (ELA), Math, Science, and Social Studies.

The dashboard below shows the number and percent of 9th through 12th grade students who enrolled in at least one course in each of the four core course areas for a given year. In other words, it displays the number and percent of students in grades 9 through 12 who took one or more ELA courses, one or more Math courses, one or more Social Studies courses, and one or more Science courses in the year displayed.

*Please note: Students who attended schools that serve exclusively special-needs populations (Pioneer and Conroy) are not included because of the distinct educational experiences they provide.

**Please note: Students who attended Science and Technology Academy are not included in the data because of the unique scheduling structure offered at the school, which allows students to schedule courses in a manner different from most secondary schools.
