(Left to Right) M. Cross, Baby Makena, Sade Creighton, Ramon Creighton, Jr., Dr. Regina B. Holley, LeAna Creighton, RaLyn Creighton, Ramon Creighton, Sr.Deeply rooted in the North Side, the Creighton-Holley family is led by a matriarch who is invested in education. A Pittsburgh Oliver graduate herself, Regina B. Holley, PhD. has spent 45 years teaching, nurturing, and advocating for students in Pittsburgh. In 2010, Dr. Holley retired as a Pittsburgh Public Schools principal, where her last post was the principal at Pittsburgh Lincoln for 16 years. Elected in 2011, Dr. Holley now represents District 2 on the Pittsburgh Board of Education.
Dr. Holley raised two children—Ramon Sr. and Sade.
Ramon Creighton Sr., starting in football and basketball, graduated from Langley High School in 1996. It was at Langley where he met his wife, LeAna. The couple, who celebrated 15 years married over the summer, both currently work for Pittsburgh Public Schools. Mr. Creighton provides classroom support at Pittsburgh Conroy, while Mrs. Creighton is Project Assistant at Pittsburgh Westinghouse. Mrs. Creighton is currently studying Instructional Studies and General Education at Point Park University. Last year, she was recognized by the New Pittsburgh Courier for her work at Pittsburgh Westinghouse and named Fab 40 Under 40.
Mr. and Mrs. Creighton have two children—Ramon Jr. and Ralyn.
Ramon Jr. not only took his dad’s name, but he also inherited his basketball skills. During his senior year, Ramon Jr. led the Pittsburgh Allderdice boys basketball team to the state championship in 2016. Little Ramon, as he’s affectionately called, is also a skilled chess player. Under the leadership of his grandmother at Pittsburgh Lincoln, Little Ramon learned the game and won numerous tournaments. He continued to play at the high school level.
His little sister, RaLyn, keeps the family tradition alive at Pittsburgh Obama. She currently plays ball, and will graduate from the International Baccalaureate school in 2020. RaLyn is an honor student, a member of the yearbook committee, and member of the Delta Gems.
In 2003, Sade Creighton graduated from Perry Traditional Academy, and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and a MBA from Point Park University. Sade works for the Office of the State Superintendent of Education in Washington DC. In May, Sade welcomed her first child, Baby Makena.
Dr. Holley led the charge to make sure Education was at the forefront of her family. All of her children are currently working in education and started at Pittsburgh Public Schools.
