Raise Your Hand for Health: Your Guide to School-Based Health and Wellness Resources for Allegheny County

"This resource guide is designed to be used by school administrators, teachers, school wellness committees, parents, caregivers, students and public health professionals. Raise Your Hand for Health was developed by Let's Move Pittsburgh, a program of Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, and the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC by completing a comprehensive inventory of health and wellness programs and services available to Allegheny County schools. If you are interested in bringing a program to your school, contact providers directly." Click here for a copy of the guide.

    Healthy Schools Program

Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC partners with Pittsburgh Public School District to implement the Healthy Schools Program, an evidence-based program that helps schools create healthier environments where youth are empowered to make healthier lifestyle choices. Children's Hospital provides training and technical assistance to school leaders; helping them assess their school environments and providing tools and resources to implement positive changes that support the health and wellbeing of students and school staff. During the 2016 - 17 and 2017 - 18 school years, schools that participate in the program receive a $1,000 mini grant from Children's Hospital to help them jump-start their Healthy Schools efforts. For more information about the Healthy Schools Program and how you can get involved, please contact Britnee Nwokeji at
