The Pittsburgh Public Schools, Program for Students with Exceptionalities (PSE) provides nationally recognized transition programming to meet the needs of students with disabilities. The PSE Transition department has realized a need for transition programming for students with disabilities in the surrounding 42 school districts in Allegheny County. During the 2010-2011 school year, CITY Connections (a community-based transition program for students ages 18-21) accepted its first students from other school districts. This fee for service model has also been implemented in the Conroy and Pioneer Education programs where districts pay tuition for students ages 5-21 yrs. to attend and receive services within their programs. In addition to participating in a functional curriculum, students can receive many of the same services offered to PPS students including the skills necessary to reach their post-secondary goals. Please see the brochure for details.
The Pittsburgh Public Schools (PPS) does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability or age in its programs, activities or employment and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups.
