Redefining Ready
College Ready, Career Ready, Life Ready
To ensure the District meets its vision of “all students graduating high school college, career, and life ready prepared to complete a two- or four-year college degree or workforce certification,” the Board adopted a resolution supporting multiple readiness indicators proposed by the Redefining Ready! campaign.
A national campaign launched by The School Superintendents Association (AASA), Redefining Ready! introduces a new multi-metric, research-based approach to determining what it means to be college, career, and life ready. The effort moves away from utilizing one standardized test to judge all to a focus on readiness.
Pittsburgh Public Schools has identified ensuring all students are equipped with the skills to succeed in college, career and life as one of four long-term outcomes in its 2017-2022 Strategic Plan Expect Great Things. The indicators proposed by Redefining Ready! go beyond GPA, attendance, and performance on standardized tests to develop a comprehensive picture of student potential.
