Pittsburgh Public Schools Office of Out-of-School Time
High-quality, engaging, and accessible after-school and summer experiences effectively complement the academic instruction that students receive during the school day, to promote better academic, social, and emotional outcomes for youth.

Using an approach modeled after the Wallace Foundation's research and the four identified elements of after-school system success, the team provides leadership and coordination while tracking data and supporting program quality. Additionally, the Office of Out-of-School Time coordinates closely with Allegheny Partners for Out-of-School Time (APOST), to focus on improving quality of and access to Out-of-School time opportunities through committed, collaborative and innovative efforts with youth serving community based organizations across the city.

Our two biggest areas of work are:

      * Recruiting and managing partnerships with nearly 80 youth-serving community based organizations through an annual approval process.

      * Overseeing and operating two hallmark programs that directly serve over 3,000 PPS students, the After-School Academy (currently located at Westinghouse, Perry, and Brashear) and the award winning Summer Dreamers Academy (operating at three regional sites each summer).
